LESSONS

Teaching Style

When teaching piano, Irina puts a focus on developing strong technique, unique interpretation, correct and productive practice, relaxation during playing, managing of performance anxiety, working on a convincing appearance on stage, and more.

What to expect

Students will meet with Irina for piano lessons once weekly. For beginner students, particularly those aged 6-8, lessons will typically start with 30-minute sessions. As students progress, they will be encouraged to extend their lessons to 45 minutes or even one hour. Each lesson will encompass technical studies and work on chosen repertoire pieces. It's important to note that the student's progress will significantly depend on the time they dedicate to practicing outside of the lessons.

Recitals

Recitals will be held twice a year, typically in December and June. Students will prepare one or two pieces that will have to be memorized. In addition to regular studio recitals, students will be encouraged to participate in the Annual Marian Filice Piano Competition and Festival held at Gavilan College in Gilroy, CA.

Cancellation Policy

In order to maintain an organized schedule and respect everyone's time, I kindly request a 24-hour notice for any lesson cancellations or rescheduling. Without this notice, a full lesson fee will be charged. I understand that emergencies and sudden illnesses, such as a student coming home from school with a fever or cold/flu symptoms, can arise unexpectedly. In these cases, please inform me as soon as possible, and exceptions will be made. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
